Amblyline biological control agent contains the predatory mite Amblyseius cucumeris, which targets a variety of thrips species, including Western Flower and Chili Thrips.

Targeted thrips control with Amblyseius cucumeris

Amblyline contains the predatory mite Amblyseius cucumeris, a biological control agent that targets various thrips species, including Western Flower Thrips and Chili Thrips. It is ideal for long-term suppression of early-stage thrips larvae and other small pests in a wide range of crops.

Benefits of Ambly Stick

  • Broad pest range: Effective against multiple thrips species and harmful mites.
  • Proven success: Long history of effective control of thrips larvae (L1 stage).
  • Quick dispersal: Mites spread rapidly throughout the crop for full coverage.
  • Sustained performance: Feeds on pollen and remains active without diapause.

Target pests

Amblyline is used to control Western Flower Thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis), Chili Thrips (Scirtothrips dorsalis), broad mites, and cyclamen mites in various crops including vegetables, ornamentals, and soft fruits.

Mode of action

The formulation is designed for steady daily release of predatory mites onto the crop. Amblyseius cucumeris targets the first larval stage (L1) of thrips and cannot attack larger larvae or adults. This makes it highly suitable for preventive or early curative treatments.

Temperature and development

At 24°C (75°F), development from egg to adult takes 6–9 days, aligning with the lifecycle of Western Flower Thrips. Optimal activity occurs between 19–27°C (66–80°F) and 65–75% relative humidity, making Amblyline suitable for most greenhouse and indoor environments.

Best use

Amblyline is most effective as part of an integrated pest management (IPM) strategy and is suitable for preventative use or low to moderate infestations. Its ability to feed on pollen supports long-term presence and control in the crop.
