Amblyline biological control agent contains the predatory mite Amblyseius cucumeris, which targets Western Flower thrips, Chili Thrips, and other thrips species.

Biological control of thrips and mites

Amblyline is a biological control agent containing the predatory mite Amblyseius cucumeris. It is a natural enemy of Western Flower Thrips, Chili Thrips, and various other thrips species.

Benefits of Ambly Bugline

  • Broad-spectrum thrips control: Targets multiple thrips species, including Western Flower and Chili Thrips.
  • Proven effectiveness: Long-standing, reliable control of thrips larvae.
  • Fast dispersal: Predatory mites spread quickly throughout the crop.
  • Long-term control: Mites feed on pollen and are not susceptible to diapause.

Main uses

Amblyline is used for the biological control of: Thrips (Western Flower Thrips, Chili Thrips), Broad mite & Cyclamen mite.

How it works

Amblyline’s formulation is carefully developed to ensure a consistent release of predatory Amblyseius cucumeris mites into the crop each day. These mites feed specifically on the first larval stage (L1) of thrips and cannot attack larger thrips larvae or adults. The full development cycle of A. cucumeris takes 6–9 days at 24°C (75°F), which aligns well with the lifecycle of Western Flower Thrips. The optimal temperature range for activity is between 19–27°C (66–80°F), with a relative humidity of 65%–75%. The mites also feed on pollen, allowing them to survive and remain effective even in the absence of thrips. Additionally, they are not prone to entering diapause, making them suitable for year-round use in various crops.
