Biological control of thrips and mites
Amblyline is a biological control agent that contains the predatory mite Amblyseius cucumeris. It is used primarily to control Western Flower Thrips, Chili Thrips, and other thrips species.
Benefits of Amblyline CRS
- ✅Broad thrips control: Effective against a wide range of thrips species.
- ✅Proven performance: Long history of success in targeting thrips larvae.
- ✅Quick crop coverage: Mites disperse rapidly throughout the plants.
- ✅Extended protection: Feeds on pollen and is not affected by diapause.
Main uses
Amblyline is commonly used for the biological control of: Thrips (Western Flower Thrips, Chili Thrips), Broad mite & Cyclamen mite.
How it works
The formulation of Amblyline is designed to ensure consistent daily release of Amblyseius cucumeris mites into the crop. These beneficial mites feed on the first larval stage (L1) of thrips but do not attack older larvae or adult thrips. At a temperature of 24°C (75°F), the full development cycle of the mite takes 6 to 9 days, which aligns well with the lifecycle of Western Flower Thrips. The mites perform best between 19–27°C (66–80°F) and at a relative humidity of 65%–75%.
In addition to feeding on thrips, A. cucumeris can survive on pollen when prey is scarce, supporting long-term presence in the crop. The mites are not susceptible to diapause, making them suitable for use throughout the year.
