The Bio Chopper is one of the most widely used machines in greenhouse horticulture for shredding various crops. It's an essential tool for efficient work during crop rotation. There are four different models available, but which crop shredder is the best fit for your greenhouse horticulture company? This decision depends on several factors, including crop size, budget, and the scale of your operation.

Available Bio Chopper Models

There are various types of Bio Choppers:

1. Bio Chopper Compact

As the name implies, the Bio Chopper Compact is the smallest among the four options. This shredder is suitable for situations with limited space. It can process 2,500 to 5,000 m2 per hour. While the Bio Chopper Compact can handle heavy crops, it takes more time compared to the more powerful models. Transport mats automatically feed the crop into the machine.

2. Bio Chopper PTO

The Bio Chopper PTO is a more economical alternative to the Bio Chopper Compact. Unlike the other Bio Choppers, it doesn't have its own engine but connects to a tractor. When paired with a 100 HP tractor, it can achieve a capacity of 2,500 to 5,000 m2 per hour.

3. Super Chopper Compact

With a capacity of approximately 2,500 to 6,500 m2 per hour, the Super Chopper Compact boasts 50% more power than the Bio Chopper Compact. This increased power reduces clearance time. Like the Bio Chopper, a transport mat feeds the crop into the shredder.

4. Mega Bio Chopper

The Mega Bio Chopper can process up to 13,000 m2 per hour, making it the most powerful option. A significant advantage compared to the other Bio Choppers is its ability to load crops from two sides simultaneously. For continuous work, using two forklifts with 3,800-liter tipping containers on both sides is recommended. This feature makes the Mega Bio Chopper a preferred choice for many contractors.

Factors in Choosing a Bio Chopper

Several factors influence the choice of a Bio Chopper:

1. Capacity and Power of Crop Shredders: Consider the required capacity of the machine. Different models have varying capacities due to engine size, which affects the shredding or chopping speed. If speed is important, the Super Chopper Compact or Mega Chopper are suitable choices.

2. Crop Size: Any Bio Chopper can handle heavy crops, but a more powerful model processes them much faster due to higher capacity. Consider the hectares of crop to be cleared or shredded, as well as the type of crop. Larger and heavier crops lean towards a powerful Bio Chopper.
3. Company Size: The number of greenhouses matters more than the size of the company. If you need to clear multiple greenhouses simultaneously, opt for two or more Bio Choppers Compact or PTO models. This enhances agility and flexibility compared to using one large Mega Chopper.
4. Budget: Budget plays a crucial role in the decision-making process. The Bio Chopper PTO and Bio Chopper Compact are more budget-friendly, with the Bio Chopper PTO being the most economical due to the absence of an engine. The Super Chopper Compact is a pricier option, followed by the Mega Bio Chopper.
