Pollination hives for open-field crops
Quad pollination hives contain four strong bumblebee colonies and are specifically designed for outdoor pollination. Thanks to weatherproof housing, optimal insulation and ventilation, the hives ensure high performance and colony longevity, even under variable field conditions.
Benefits of Quad :
- ✅Developed for open-field use: Durable, weatherproof design ensures performance in outdoor conditions.
- ✅Controlled access: Beehome doors allow growers to temporarily close the hive for crop protection or relocation.
- ✅Extended pollination window: Colonies remain active up to 8 weeks, depending on crop and conditions.
- ✅Efficient pollination: Each hive can grow to 300–400 active workers for strong, consistent pollination.
Main uses
Open-field pollination of fruit, vegetable, and seed crops. Suitable for crops requiring reliable pollination across multiple weeks and varying weather conditions.
How it works
Once placed in the field, worker bumblebees begin foraging for pollen and nectar. This supports the development of the colony, which grows progressively over several weeks. At peak maturity, a hive may contain 300–400 active workers contributing to pollination. Colonies naturally expire after their pollination period ends.
Practical use
The Beehome door system allows the hives to be closed when necessary—for example, during chemical treatments or for hive relocation. Hives can be installed up to 5 days before flowering starts, depending on the crop type. For crop-specific guidance, consult your local representative.
Duration
Each Quad hive supports pollination activity for up to 8 weeks under proper crop management, and expires naturally at the end of the season.
