Biological control of sciarids in greenhouses

Nemaplus contains infective juveniles of the insect-pathogenic nematode Steinernema feltiae, developed specifically for the biological control of sciarid flies (Sciaridae) in greenhouse crops. This product is effective, safe, and directly applicable to the substrate.

Benefits of Nemaplus :

  • Targeted action: Effectively controls sciarid larvae in the growing medium.
  • Natural product: Leaves no chemical residues.
  • Safe: Harmless to humans, crops, and beneficial insects.
  • Long-lasting protection: Single treatment lasts up to 6 weeks.

Application conditions

Use Nemaplus as soon as possible after delivery. It can be stored for several weeks at 4–10°C (see expiry date on packaging), but should never be frozen or exposed to temperatures above 30°C. The nematodes are most effective at compost temperatures between 10 and 25°C; performance decreases outside this range.

Dosage and application

Compost should be moist but not wet. Nematodes cannot swim and therefore cannot move effectively in water-saturated substrates. Apply 50 million nematodes per 100 m², dissolved in 20 to 50 liters of water. For individual applications: 10,000 nematodes per liter of potting compost. If the substrate contains high levels of green waste or perlite, increase the dosage by approximately 50%.

Application methods

Nemaplus can be applied using standard spraying equipment, drip irrigation, or a dosatron. If possible, skip irrigation once before application to avoid excessive moisture in the compost. Treat the substrate shortly after sowing seeds or placing cuttings.

Repeat treatment under pressure

A single application protects crops for approximately 6 weeks. In case of heavy sciarid infestation, repeat the treatment after 10–14 days for continued control.
