Nematode Steinernema feltiae
The parasitic nematode Steinernema feltiae, is a bio-product crafted for the effective control of thrips, leafminer, and Sciara. These nematodes actively seek out prey, entering and eliminating them through the release of bacteria. Nemaplus is safe for humans, the environment, crops, and beneficial insects. Its versatile application extends to both soil and foliage.
Nemaplus Application
Each Nemaplus package is equipped with plastic trays containing 50 million parasitic nematodes. For optimal results, the recommended application rate is 50 million nematodes per 100 m², dissolved in 20 to 50 liters of water. Adjust the dosage accordingly when dealing with compost enriched with higher levels of green waste or perlite.
Nematode application methods
Utilize standard spraying equipment, drip-irrigation systems, or a dosatron for precise application. To prevent excessive moisture in the compost, it is advisable to abstain from irrigation before treatment. Ideally, treat the compost shortly after sowing seeds or introducing cuttings.
A single Nemaplus application offers protection for approximately 6 weeks. In cases of heavy sciarid infestations, consider a repeat treatment after 10-14 days for sustained control. For optimal application, follow these recommendations:
- > Keep pump pressure below 20 bar/2000 kPa.
- > Continuously stir the solution during application.
- > Do not store the prepared spray solution to preserve its efficacy.
- > When applying to soil, spray on the top layer.
- > For soil application on crops, rinse with water after application.
- > During leaf application, ensure sufficient coverage without dripping
Nematodes storage guidelines
For maximum effectiveness, apply Nemaplus immediately upon receipt. Store the package within the temperature range of 4 to 10°C, ensuring protection against freezing or exposure to temperatures exceeding 30°C. The nematodes exhibit peak efficiency at compost temperatures ranging from 10 to 25°C. When moistening the compost, exercise caution to avoid oversaturation, as nematodes cannot effectively navigate in water-saturated conditions.
