ERVIcontrol contains mummies of the parasitic wasp Aphidius ervi. Once introduced into the crop, these parasitic wasps actively seek out aphids. The adult Aphidius ervi parasitizes aphids by piercing them and depositing an egg inside their bodies. Aphids are defenseless against these attacks. The egg hatches within the aphid, leading to mummification and the eventual emergence of a new parasitic wasp.
Aphidius ervi specializes in parasitizing larger aphid species such as the potato aphid (Macrosiphum Rosea), rose aphid (Macrosiphum Rosea), and butterflower aphid (Aulocorthum Solani), making it well-suited for preventive measures. While Aphidius ervi can be deployed in any crop, its activity significantly declines above 30°C. Due to the presence of mummies that remain on the leaves, ervi is primarily used in vegetable crops.
