Chrysoline is a biological control agent featuring second instar larvae of Chrysoperla sp. (Green Lacewings), known for their effectiveness in preying on a wide range of aphid pests.

Chrysoline aphid monitoring agent

Chrysoline biological monitoring agent contains the second instar larvae of Chrysoperla species, commonly known as Green Lacewings. Chrysoperla larvae are generalist predators of insects, mites, and aphids. Adults feed only on nectar and pollen and are not predatory.

Benefits of Chrysoline :

  • Broad-spectrum: Suitable for a wide range of aphid species across different plants, helping simplify monitoring needs.
  • Visible: Easy to observe and monitor in crops.
  • Targeted: Larvae remain near aphid colonies to focus their feeding activity.
  • Adaptive: Adults disperse and lay single eggs on long stalks under leaves, supporting natural presence in the crop environment.

Main uses

Aphids, Mealy Bugs

How it works

The larvae stay near aphid colonies and are used for monitoring and management of localized infestations. Once their mandibles have engaged the prey, they inject enzymes that gradually digest internal organs. When digestion is complete, the liquid contents are consumed. Adult lacewings disperse naturally, so repeated introductions may be planned if ongoing monitoring indicates need. Under testing conditions at 21 °C, individual larvae have shown high feeding activity over 14 days on various aphid species:

- More than 200 Macrosiphum euphorbiae
- 385 Myzus persicae
- 425 Aphis gossypii
