Erviline biological control agent
Erviline biological control agent contains the Braconid wasp, Aphidius ervi. It targets larger aphid species such as the foxglove aphid (Aulacorthum solani) and the potato aphid (Macrosiphum euphorbiae), as well as several other aphid species.
Benefits of Erviline :
- ✅Targeted: Suitable for large aphid species.
- ✅Light-stable: Not light sensitive, no diapause stage.
- ✅Ready: Adults begin to emerge during transport, making them ready for introduction.
- ✅Packaging: Includes ventilation and food sources to help support adult survival and allows clear visual inspection of quality.
Main uses
Aphids
How it works
The female wasp lays an egg inside the aphid. The egg hatches within 2–3 days, and the larva feeds internally, eventually leaving a characteristic mummy on the plant. The Aphidius ervi life cycle takes approximately 14 days at 25 °C / 77 °F or 19 days at 21 °C / 70 °F. In crops with established aphid colonies, higher release rates may be used by placing wasps near these colonies. In crops where Aphidius ervi has not previously been introduced, aphid populations may increase quickly and additional management methods may be needed. Erviline can be used in any crop where Macrosiphum euphorbiae is the primary aphid species present.
