Aphiline (Aphidius colemani) PFP020403-002 1000/125 ml vial

SKU #: 2600055

Aphiline biological control agent, which contains the Braconid wasp Aphidius colemani, effectively targets smaller aphid species like melon and peach aphids.

Aphiline aphid monitoring agent

Aphiline biological monitoring agent contains the Braconid wasp, Aphidius colemani. This wasp targets smaller aphid species such as the melon or cotton aphid (Aphis gossypii), peach aphid (Myzus persicae), and tobacco aphid (Myzus nicotianae).

Benefits of Aphiline :

  • Targeted: Suitable for smaller aphid species commonly found in protected crops.
  • Ready: Adults begin to emerge during transit, supporting timely introduction.
  • Light-stable: Not light sensitive, no diapause stage.
  • Packaging: Includes ventilation and a food source to help maintain adult survival during storage and transport.

Main uses

Aphids

How it works

The female wasp lays an egg inside the aphid. The egg hatches within 2–3 days and the larva develops inside the aphid, eventually forming a characteristic mummy on the plant. The Aphidius colemani life cycle takes approximately 10 days at 25 °C / 77 °F or 14 days at 21 °C / 70 °F. Releases can be planned weekly during periods when aphids are more likely to be present in the crop (typically spring or early summer). In crops with existing aphid colonies, higher release rates may be applied close to these colonies. In situations with no prior releases, aphid populations may increase quickly and additional management measures may be needed. Ongoing use supports monitoring of aphid presence in the crop.
