Biological control with parasitic nematodes
Nemaplus contains the parasitic nematode Steinernema feltiae, designed for effective control of thrips, leafminer, and Sciara. These microscopic nematodes actively seek out and eliminate pests by releasing symbiotic bacteria. Safe for humans, crops, the environment, and beneficial insects, Nemaplus can be applied to both soil and foliage.
Benefits of Nemaplus:
- ✅ Safe: Harmless to people, crops, and beneficial insects.
- ✅ Effective: Targets thrips, leafminers, and Sciara larvae.
- ✅ Versatile: Suitable for use on both foliage and soil.
- ✅ Natural solution: Based on live organisms with no chemical residues.
Application of nematodes in greenhouses
Each package of Nemaplus contains trays with 50 million nematodes. The recommended dose is 50 million nematodes per 100 m², dissolved in 20–50 liters of water. Adjust the dosage for compost rich in green waste or perlite for optimal effect.
Application methods
Nemaplus can be applied using standard spray equipment, drip irrigation, or a dosatron. Avoid irrigating just before application to prevent excess moisture. Apply preferably after sowing or placing cuttings. One application protects for approx. 6 weeks; reapply after 10–14 days in case of heavy Sciara infestations.
Usage tips
• Keep pump pressure below 20 bar (2000 kPa).
• Stir the solution continuously during use.
• Do not store prepared spray solution.
• Spray on the topsoil for soil application.
• Rinse with water after soil application on crops.
• Ensure good leaf coverage without dripping when spraying foliage.
Storage guidelines (Canada)
Apply Nemaplus immediately upon delivery for best results. Store at 4–10°C, avoiding freezing or heat above 30°C. Ideal compost temperature: 10–25°C. Avoid oversaturation during moistening, as nematodes are less effective in waterlogged conditions.
