Effective control of whitefly with Eretmocerus eremicus
Eretline contains the parasitic wasp Eretmocerus eremicus, a powerful biological control agent targeting whiteflies. It parasitizes second-instar larvae of greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum) and sweet potato whitefly (Bemisia tabaci), while also reducing populations through host feeding.
Benefits of Eretline Card
- ✅Effective in warm conditions: Performs well in high or fluctuating temperatures throughout the season.
- ✅Improved establishment: Supplied in innovative blister packs to support emergence and distribution.
- ✅Dual action: Combines parasitism with host feeding for higher control levels.
- ✅Excellent host location: Strong searching behavior ensures quick detection of pest hotspots.
Target pests
Eretline is used against greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum) and sweet potato whitefly (Bemisia tabaci), making it ideal for crops with mixed whitefly populations.
Mode of action
Adult female Eretmocerus eremicus search for second-instar whitefly larvae. Once located, they lay an egg between the larva and the leaf surface. The emerging larva develops inside the whitefly, killing the host. In addition, the adult wasps feed on young whitefly stages, further reducing pest numbers.
Optimal conditions
Eretline performs best at temperatures between 25–29°C (77–84°F), making it especially suitable for warm and fluctuating climates. Its longevity and adaptability make it ideal for season-long control.
Application advice
Use Eretline wherever Bemisia is present. Its effectiveness against both Bemisia and Trialeurodes makes it a valuable tool for managing mixed whitefly infestations in protected cropping systems.
