The life cycle of Cryptolaemus montrouzieri

The complete transformation from egg to adult beetle takes around 35 days when temperatures remain at 25°C. The female Cryptolaemus montrouzieri beetles can live for over 60 days, producing up to 120 eggs during their lifespan under consistent conditions of 25°C. Approximately five days after mating, females begin laying eggs within mealybug colonies.

Applying Cryptolaemus

For optimal results, release the Cryptolaemus montrouzieri predatory beetles during the cooler parts of the day. Be aware that ants can hinder their effectiveness, as they feed on honeydew and thus protect mealybugs from their natural enemies. To ensure maximum impact, scatter the beetles directly around mealybug colonies by carefully opening the container and distributing them over the infested plants.
